Our GO-TO Camping Essential Oil Kit.

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor. That's why you shouldn't take any of my words on essential oils as medical advice. I'm simply sharing my experiences with essential oils and how we use them for our own health and in our home. Please use good judgement and seek medical advice from a professional for any ailment.

John and I camp a lot. Whether it’s a weekend trip or a vacation across the country, we spend a considerable amount of time in our fifth wheel camper. In fact, John lives in our fifth wheel camper when he is traveling for work.

There are so many ways we make our camper feel like home. For example, we make our camper bed with nice sheets and pillows - the same kind that we use at our home. We use ‘real’ silverware and skip the paper plates, opting for a few thrift store dishes that are lightweight and reusable. We also carry a few essential oils and a diffuser to make our camping experience comfortable.

Here are the oils you’ll find in my carrying case:
  • Valor
  • Stress Away
  • Deep Relief
  • Purification
  • Thieves
  • Sweet Orange
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Tea Tree
  • Citronella

I travel with Valor and Stress Away simply because I am an anxious traveler. I think I get this from my mom. She’s going to kill me for telling you that for as long as I can remember, she gets growly and stressed in the days before a vacation. I think it’s because she was responsible for packing our family of 5, and nearly all of the travel preparations for our summer vacations. I find myself equally stressed and anxious as I prepare for our camping vacations, and for the first day or so as I adjust to ‘vacation life’.

John and I both love Deep Relief for the minor aches and pains of traveling in a bouncy truck for hours, and after hiking, biking, or being active outdoors. We use Peppermint to get some relief from the minor aches and pain of daily life.

Purification and Citronella are our BFFs when it comes to all things ‘bugs’. We diffuse and wear Citronella as a repellant, and use Purification ‘neat’ on any itchy bug bites for relief.

Thieves is my fail-safe oil in case we need some immune system support. I haven’t had to use Thieves on a camping vacation yet. *knock on wood* After a camping vacation, I will diffuse Thieves or Purification before we close up the camper until the next trip, and when opening the camper up to pack it for an upcoming vacay. I feel like it gives our camper a general ‘once over’ for air purification.

Sweet Orange and Lavender are two oils that I diffuse during the day (for example, if we’re stuck inside for a bit due to rain, Peppermint and Orange are a great combo!) or at night to help us unwind and promote a restful sleep.

Tea Tree oil is another great oil that I keep on hand for any weird skin things that might come up, like a rash or a blemish.
