August Recap: Spending Strike!

It's over, friends!

My early-August to early-September spending strike is finished, and I'm excited {and a little nervous} to share the results with you. Before you scroll down, go back and read about how we did at the half-way point.

Money I/we made this month:
$57 - consigning items
$50 - Craigslist sale
$10 - mail-in-rebate arrived

Monday I/we spent this month before figuring in money 'made': $181.88

Did I/we keep it under $100? Nope.

I spent $148.88.

And I would have to guess that 90% of that total is on entertainment, and food and drink with friends and family. Not that I'm complaining. I love the time we spend 'out' with each other, family and friends, and I don't think we are going to change those habits entirely.

Regardless of going over my goal by $48.88, I am still proud of myself, because I accomplished my ultimate goal of making my summer teacher salary last through September. I had about $7,000 to work with, and after a summer (about 4 months) of not working, yet still paying all of our bills AND starting a bathroom renovation, I still have $3,400 of my summer salary remaining.

That is waaaayyyyyyy better than I thought I would do.

And since I'm such a rock star, I'm going to see how far I can stretch that remaining $3k. Can I make it stretch to October 1st? Halloween? Thanksgiving?! Ok, maybe not until the end of November, but you get the idea.
