Does it seem like Christmastime to you? For some reason we're mid-way into the holiday season and I am just not feeling the holiday spirit. I blame some of that on my crazy work schedule, and the rest on the fact that we've had a very mild December.
I've also done no holiday shopping yet. I did head to a chain grocery store a week and a half ago to see this stacked up outside the door:
Is it just me, or do you also think spending $15 for a 'bonfire log' is absolutely ridiculous?! I laughed aloud and sent this picture to my mom, sister, and brother.
Last week we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. Here's a little throw back for you:
For part of my anniversary present, John made me a standing desk!
Don't worry, there will be a tutorial coming soon on the blog. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw the video of me proclaiming my excitement.
Another huge accomplishment goes to my sister, Stephanie, who just celebrated the soft opening of her new spa.
Stephanie is an esthetician, massage therapist, and make up artist. She and her boyfriend, John (yes, his name is also John) and his father, Brad from Welsh Construction, spent about 4 weeks renovating a vintage gas station into a modern spa. Her town has an evening Holiday Hop to ring in the Christmas season, and we were happy to spend a few hours chatting up her new biz.
If you are local to Eastern Iowa, I am happy to announce that I will be teaching some essential oil classes with Stephanie at her new spa this winter and spring. Stay tuned!
Even though we celebrated the Holidays with Stephanie and John at the Holiday Hop, it didn't quite put me in the Christmas mood. Last weekend was very mild, with temps in the mid- to upper-40s. A trip to the dog park was necessary on Saturday afternoon.
However, the tree is trimmed:
And the stockings are hung by the chimney with care:
Maybe a little holiday music and wrapping a few gifts will be just what I need.
What do you love most about the holiday season?
