I know you're super excited to hear about this product, at least you were all jacked up about it on Facebook last week. Let's talk about this magical spice, shall we?
According to the Sunny Day Organics site, some of the benefits of vanilla bean are:
- Vanilla Bean contains many trace minerals such like potassium, iron, manganese and copper. Potassium is important for cell and body fluids that help control blood pressure and hear rate.
- According to USDA, vanilla bean is in the top 10 antioxidant foods.
- It has powerful antibacterial properties that help reduce skin infections and encourage wound healing.
When Laura and Kris, the couple who founded this small company, shipped this pouch of vanilla bean powder to me I was really pleased. The vacuum-sealed pouch was perfectly packaged and arrived really fast - less than a week - to my home. Also, Laura and Kris source their vanilla bean powder from small farms where the beans are freshly ground in small batches.
Trust me, when you open your package, the sweet smell of vanilla will make your mouth water!
- Use it in almost any way you would use vanilla extract!
- Add about 1/2 a teaspoon to your egg and milk mixture for your French toast, or in your pancakes
- Make a smoothie and add some vanilla powder
- Add it to your muffins
- Give your apple or fruit crisp desserts some flair, or try this recipe
- Add about a teaspoon to your coffee before brewing.
- Just like vanilla extract, use it in your homemade insect repellant.
- Use in homemade potpourri
You can purchase your own bag of Sunny Day Organics Vanilla Bean Powder here. The ONLY place to purchase it is online - this is not a product you'll find in your grocery store (at least in Eastern Iowa, anyway…). Also, if you enter the coupon code COUPLE15, you can get 15% off your purchase of vanilla bean powder. How cool is that?!
