John's 1/2 Pound "Date Night" Cheeseburger

I know it's going to be a good night when my homestud is in the kitchen shaping up some ground beef for his signature 1/2 pound cheeseburgers.

In fact, it's so rare that he does ANY type of cooking, I often assume he either made a big purchase behind my back, or is trying to butter me up for some crazy idea. Sometimes, though it be very rare, the man in my life just wants to dig into a juicy burger.

These are the occasions where we have a 'date night' out on the patio around the grill. Behold, John's 1/2 Pound "Date Night" Cheeseburger:

John recommends starting with some spices.

In all, you'll need the following ingredients:
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/2 t. gralic powder
  • 1/2 t. kosher salt
  • 1/4 t. coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/4 t. chipotle pepper (adds a smokey flavor)
  • a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce

Mix the beef and spices with your hands and make two patties.

Preheat your grill on High for 5 minutes. Then, grill your burgers until Medium-Well. (John likes his Medium, though.)

If you'd like, you can baste your burgers with homemade barbecue sauce. We like to serve our burgers without a bun, but a piece of grilled homemade garlic bread and a steamed vegetable on the side.

Right now, I am really digging a burger on a piece of this bread, slathered with mayo, and topped with lettuce and onion.

Amen.

  1. My hubby loves to make our burgers as well. He usually loves to use Montreal steak seasoning. These look good will have to pass this along to see if he would like to try something new
