John is home!

It's been a fabulous weekend, friends.

John got home at about 3 a.m. on Friday morning, and although it feels like we've been going non-stop all weekend, we've spent some quality time together.

Actually, Friday evening we were featured on a HuffPost Live segment about how we make our sometimes long-distance marriage work for us. We got an email from a Huffington Post producer on Thursday, and decided to do the segment last-minute.

If you didn't get a chance to watch us live, here's the recorded version:

After our debut on HuffPost Live, we went out for dinner at an awesome Mexican restaurant and had a few beers.

We also saw an outdoor band with two of my sister-in-laws.

Most of the day Saturday was spent cleaning out the camper, which is currently parked in our driveway.

I don't think we will keep it in our driveway for the whole time John is home - about a month - because it takes up so much damn space!

And don't you love John's black truck box? A deer hit him (seriously!) while he was working in Arkansas, so he picked up this truck box on the cheap while down there.

I think he should keep the two-toned look. It makes him look like a badass behind the wheel, and other drivers won't F with him 'cuz he's the rebel with a black truck box. Clearly he's a renegade.

We also began picking out floor tile for our bathroom remodel. Seriously. This is HARD. We've narrowed our options down to three. I'll tell you all about it on Wednesday, but if you LIKE us on Facebook, you already have an idea of what's going on this this whopper of a project.

Yesterday, we had an awesome-as-always family dinner with John's sisters. Every Sunday we get together for dinner at Ann's house. I wish my family did things like this, but John and I live too far away to make it a weekly thing. I made a pork roast for barbecued pulled pork sandwiches, and John's sisters provided all of the delicious side dishes. We also celebrate birthdays on a monthly basis, and yesterday we celebrated our family's three August birthdays. Naturally, we had cake and ice cream.

Naturally.

Today John needs to travel to Rochester, Minnesota and a few other places in Wisconsin to sign books for upcoming jobs. (Although he is going to be home for a while, the way his profession works forces him to start planning for future jobs now.) I think I will go with him and we'll make a little road trip out of it.

Over and out.
