Travelin' Man: Part 2.

John hit the road again. He really is a travelin' man. I told ya'll a while back that John travels for work, and while he was home in January and February, he's hit the road for Arkansas. He thinks he'll be back sometime mid-May.

May, people!

Seems pretty shitty, huh? It is. I agree.

To provide a brief explanation, John works as a union electrician on commercial jobs. In the last few years, he's worked on-and-off on nuclear power facilities during their month-long outages. Typically, he works a few weeks before the outage, the month of the outage, and a few weeks after the outage. At most, for one outage he will be gone for three months, and during that time he works seven days a week for 12 hours a day. He doesn't get to come home for a small break or vacation, so unless I have a break from school, I won't see him for a long time.

It sucks.

However, he makes a whole lot of money in a short period of time, and then can afford to take a month or so off before finding employment locally or heading off to another outage.

The last time he traveled for a nuclear facility outage was just before we were married about three years ago. We've done it before, and it wasn't grand, but we survived.

Because John anticipates he'll work on nuclear facilities for the next year or two, I am exploring a few new opportunities - career opportunities.

Don't worry. As the details arise, you'll be the first to know.

Stay tuned.
