My Wish: A New Foyer (on a Budget)

I really, really want to redesign my foyer.

The green just isn't workin' for me, people. It works for John, of course, because he's the one who picked the paint color.

The John Deere Green.

Mixed with the pastel green.

Quite a combination, I know. What was I thinking?

I am thinking a chalky blue. Something like this:

With a touch of this:

A smidgen of this:

And definitely one of these:

Can you envision it with me, folks? Can you feel the chippy, home-y, vintage vibe? I can. It's calling for me, baby!

There's one problem. I don't have a budget for it. Like, I can spend only enough money for the paint and mayyyyyybe a super cool thrift store/garage sale find or two. I would estimate that I can spend, maximum, $50. And that might not even be close to realistic since I have no idea how much paint even costs in 2012. The last time I bought paint was in 2007, and I thought it was expensive then.

The key to me getting this project under way with even a slight amount of enthusiasm from John is proving that I can do it for the equivalent of "can redemption money"which, in our house, means "damn near free".

I've got to be thrifty and check out some local consignment shops in search of usable pieces that can be refinished or retrofitted to my likings. Because I'll be reducing, reusing and recycling on this project, I know this will be a little more difficult.

Challenge accepted.

How do I get there from here? :

Clearly, I am liking blue. Look at our door...

And our runner...

And the rug in front of the door...

And the mat outside the door..

My foyer is destined to be blue. And chippy. And vintage. And expensive looking.

Over and out.
