$0 'Craft Corner' revamp

A few years ago for Valentine's Day John asked me what I wanted as a gift. I told him that I wanted a little "craft corner" in our office. Like the true gentleman he is, John delivered.

I got a shelf, some bead-board (I think that's what it's called?), a dowel with hooks for wrapping paper, and little containers to hold everything.

But the area isn't very functional, so I revamped it. Of course, I did so only in frugal and eco-friendly ways by using materials I already had around the house. This also means my revamp cost me nothing. Zero. Nada.

Wanna see?

The dowel at the bottom used to hold wrapping paper, but to make more use of the space, I put the wrapping paper on the shelf and used the dowel for spooled ribbon and packing tape.

GOSH! Look at all of those crafty materials. Don't you just wanna grab those wonky scissors and go to town? Just make sure you put them back where you found them...

Don't ask me how long it took to fold all of that tissue paper.

I used baskets and cardboard gift boxes (with lids cut off) on the top shelf to store buttons, glues, ribbon that wasn't on a spool, and other crafty goodies.

Probably the best part about this craft corner revamp is that I cleaned out two junk drawers (What? Of course I need two in my house. Jealous?) and a closet and found all of these crafty materials waiting to be put in their place. So not only do I have a fully-loaded craft corner, but I have two organized junk drawers and an organized closet.

I'd like to add two or three more dowels to the bottom for wrapping paper and other spooled things. I already have the dowels, and I just get ceiling hooks to hang them from. El cheapo.

I have a feeling it might not look as neat in a few weeks, but all of my supplies are handy and visible. I can't tell you how many times I bought gift bags, ribbon, or tissue paper when I had tons of it at home in the back of my closet.

Come to think of it, not only did this project not cost any money, but it may save me money in the future. Go me!
